Tour Leader Profile: Markus Lilje
Markus has endless enthusiasm for a wide variety of subjects, which he thoroughly enjoys sharing on all of his tours.
Markus Lilje was born and raised in South Africa and is fluent in both German (his home language) and English. While growing up in Pietermaritzburg and later on in the outskirts of Johannesburg, Markus had the opportunity to develop his obsession for natural history. Markus shared his passion for wildlife as a guide in the Kruger National Park area of South Africa for several years. He has also completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management and has extensively explored Southern Africa in search of new species to record and photograph, be they birds, mammals, reptiles or dragon- and damselflies. He has traveled and guided widely on the Indian subcontinent and in southern and east Africa, and is also one of our finest photographers.
