Our Mammals of a Magical Island tour begins with Berenty Lemur Reserve where Xerophytic spiny-forest species include iconic Ring-tailed Lemurs and dancing Verreaux’s Sifaka. En route to Ranomafana we overnight at Isalo, famous for its remarkable limestone landscapes. Night walks in Ranomafana are especially rewarding owing to the nightly spectacle of Brown Mouse Lemurs, Ring-tail Mongoose and Madagascar Striped Civets as well as the high concentration of ‘herps’. While in the Perinet rainforest area we will make a special effort to see our favorite mammal: the huge, singing Indri! Our extension takes us to Kirindy Forest for deciduous species and Fosa, the island’s largest carnivore.
