Jaguar saunters past one of the camera traps. No tracks or cats seen for 3 days (we have wet conditions), but Lawrence, Mario and Valencia (the vet) heard some vocalizations yesterday evening on the night shift. We are checking the sites every 4 hours each evening and the shift takes around 2 hours. Starting to get anxious…

No female Jaguars have been collared for the conservation habituation project, but things are hotting up and we have allready seen 3 of these splendid cats – two females and one male! The temperatures are also hot, but we are not using sun screen or insect repellant around the research areas. Thank goodness for comfortable, cool accomodation and dips in the swimming pool between our field excursions!
