Our scheduled Primates and Big Game wildlife safari to Uganda first ventures into the fantastic Kibale Forest. Situated to the east of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, this reserve protects an astonishing array of primates - at least 13 species have been recorded! Furthermore, it is one of the best places in the world to see wild Chimpanzees in their natural habitat, and we hope for some unforgettable encounters with these, our closest relatives in the animal kingdom. Leaving the verdant Kibale Forest behind us we next ourney to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This vast reserve boasts impressive crater scenery, expansive grasslands, tropical forests and large herds of Elephant, Buffalo and antelope, as well as the famed tree-climbing Lions of the region. Our next destination is Buhoma, headquarters of the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Here, in the riches of the Rwenzori Mountains, one finds healthy populations of some of the planet's last remaining Mountain Gorillas. In the expert and friendly company of our local guides, we will climb the forested trails in the hope of getting to observe a family group - this is a rare privilege indeed, rated by many to be the greatest wildlife experience on the planet! Close to the Tanzanian border, our final destination is Lake Mburo, geographically part of the southern savannas, and here we will enjoy viewing the likes of typically southern species such as Eland, Burchell's Zebra and Impala, all of which do not feature in other Ugandan reserves.
