Graced by snow-capped volcanoes, vast plains of rolling grasslands teeming with game, and endless tracts of bird rich Acacia woodland, East Africa is the quintessential African wildlife safari destination. There are few, if any, wilderness regions on Earth that can hope to offer such a staggering diversity of mammals, while the region also boasts some of the most beautiful birds on the planet!
We currently offer two scheduled departures to the region. On our scheduled Kenya and Tanzania Mega Mammal Safari we visit some of the best game sanctuaries of these two incredible countries, presenting a variety of habitats that range from the game-filled Amboseli to the dry Samburu region and Lake Nakuru, which literally glows pink from millions of flamingos. We also explore the scenically spectacular Ngorongoro Crater brimming with wildlife, and the endless plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania. Our visit is timed for the Wildebeest migration as it heads back north through the Western Corridor of the Serengeti. It is here where the annual rut takes place, with frenzied males attempting to service the half a million females. This tour is perfect for those wanting to combine a complete East African mammal experience with one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth!
On our scheduled Tanzania Serengeti Migration & Ngorongoro Crater tour we traverse some of the best wildlife preserves on earth; the Ngorongoro Crater, fabulous Tarangire National Park and the endless plains of the Serengeti. Our safari is designed to maximize the East African big game experience and includes an encounter with the great Wildebeest migration as they cross between the southern Serengeti and Ndutu.
While our private tours are customized for each individual's personal requirements, localities that Indri also highly recommends are Lake Manyara, famed for its tree-climbing Lions, and the stunning Arusha National Park, which offers good views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru. The Masai Mara, or the Mara as it is affectionately called, is Kenya's most celebrated reserve, and it boasts an astonishing diversity and amount of game. Unfenced, it is bounded in the east by the Ngama Hills, in the west by the Oloololo or Siria Escarpment, and to the south by the vast Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Famously, the Mara is also the most northerly end of the Great Migration.
For those wanting to add a bit of romance to their travels, Indri recommends heading to the magical Island of Zanzibar. This scented land of coconuts and spices is so idyllic that the Sultan of Oman decided to move the seat of his empire to these shores! Today, the Zanzibar Archipelago is still bathed in the heady scents of cloves and cinnamon, and traditional dhows drift across the horizon. This is primarily a post-tour opportunity to relax and unwind in one of the most unspoiled areas in Africa!

What our clients say about tours to Kenya & Tanzania
Let me just say that the trip amply fulfilled our expectations. Gavin was an outstanding trip leader, as were the local guides/drivers. Gavin was an excellent guide, and we really appreciated his knowledge and insights into the animals and their behaviour as well as his birding skills. The local guides were excellent, too, especially Steven in Tanzania – he was outstanding, really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Altogether an excellent trip, and a good group of participants.

As you may well be aware of the beauty of the Ngorongoro Crater, picture the scene... It's about 8am, it had been raining all night, but had stopped about 15 minutes earlier, we had entered the crater, dropped through the clouds, past the rain forest crater edge, everything is glistening after the rain, all clean and fresh, then as the trees cleared and the crater base comes into view, we the round the corner and are surrounded by yellow flowers, the sun breaks through a cloud, the Zebra crossed the red dirt road, it looks back at us, as the rainbow is formed straight over its head............I got about 5 pictures off. Awesome, you couldn't dream it up......

I would (and will!) highly recommend this tour, my expectations were well exceeded. I think the value for money of the tour was excellent. I really appreciated all the effort Gavin put in to ensure that we all had a good time on this tour. It was obvious that he is well trained (hospitality as well as birds and wildlife) and takes the role and responsibility of being a guide seriously. His sense of humour added to the experience. The drivers in both Kenya and Tanzania were great as well! Friendly, professional, and patient with great skill at spotting wildlife.

Extremely satisfied and "WOW" best describes our marvellous African adventure. Fraser made the trip a wonderful experience. His in-depth knowledge and insights into all aspects of mammals, birds, history, geology, bioversity, etc made each day an exciting, memorable event. When we next return, we would definitely want Fraser as our guide. After the first day, we became a little concerned regarding the arduous travel schedule and number of one night stays; however, Fraser's persona made it all work. Looking back, the itinerary (even though there were some long drive days) was perfect for a first experience of Africa. Our driver/guide, Geitan, provided a superb bonus feature. In addition to being a gifted driver, he was knowledgeable, alert, personable and a perfect match with Fraser. I can imagine extreme difficulties associated with six people together in a land cruiser for 15 days, but in this case it all worked well. Accommodations and meals were well above what we expected. The Serena lodges were excellent, but we enjoyed the extra space provided in the Sopa lodges. The setting and newness of the Samburu Simba made it the best even with the lack of ventilation in the bathroom. This was a great first experience with the INDRI organization.

I am still on a high from all the fabulous sightings we had. Outstanding trip!
Markus did a great, great job. He was very willing to share his knowledge in all areas – mammals, birds, and photography – and he was very knowledgeable. He was very upbeat and a pleasure to be around. All 3 of us were very pleased with Markus
